Kim Delaney is an American actress best known as the character Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered an Emmy Award. Also, she has appeared in series like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the sole child of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a housewife. She grew up in a family with four other brothers. As a young girl, Delaney hoped to work as a reporter in the courtroom. But in highschool the time came when she began modeling for commercials and after moving New York. Her first job as an actor was as an innocent teenager in the show All My Children. Delaney has appeared in a variety of films, television movies and dramatics since then. As with her professional career, her personal life hasn't been happy or successful. The accomplished actor has been battling alcoholism as well as two divorces. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
